Pogo's Story
Pogo came to SGAS in June of 2025 with a serious case of quills. Thanks to our team at Central Veterinary Clinic we were able to remove all of the visible quills and provide this girl with some much needed comfort. As with all quill cases, Pogo would continue to need them removed as more and more worked their way out of her skin. She ended up needing a second surgery as quills can move unpredictably. Thankfully a wonderful family had brought her home and provided her with the veterinary care she needed! Read below to hear from her family how Pogo has adjusted to life in her forever home!
Pogo’s Story
When we first saw Pogo at Saving Grace, we hesitated. There were so many unknowns about her, but in the end, we just couldn’t leave without her. Pogo came to Saving Grace as a Rez dog and was three years old when she came home with us, and she had already been through so much. She had been quilled by a porcupine, and just three days after we adopted her, she needed surgery to remove quills. For many months after that, we were still carefully pulling quills out of her. On top of that, Pogo has severe allergies that require monthly shots to manage rashes and hot spots. But through it all, she has been the best girl anyone could ask for. Sweet, loving, calm, and relaxed, Pogo loves her daily walks, cuddles with her family, and adores her two brothers. She follows her mom everywhere she goes. She also has a serious love for crunchies and toots like a human, which keeps everyone laughing. As we come up on her one year adoptaversary, we can say without a doubt that she is a soul dog in every sense of the word, and we cannot imagine life without her.
