Ted's Rescue Feature

In February of 2021, we brought in a beautiful but mange-ridden dog named Ted. He was covered in mange and severely in need of proper nutrition. He looked defeated and scared as we welcomed him into the shelter. However, his demeanor completely changed as he started to heal for his mange and found his dream home! Please read on for an update on this very special boy from his forever family.

Ty and I have been talking about getting a companion for our dog Bo, & adding to our family for about a year. When we came across Ted on Saving Graces Facebook page we both instantly went “uh oh”. We couldn’t believe how much he looked like an orange version of Bo. We went back and looked at his adoption description for a few days before we made the call to set up a meet and greet. Once we met Ted at the rescue he peed as soon as we entered his kennel and crawled up to show love right away. We both knew we weren’t leaving with out him that day.

Ted was an incredibly fast and eager learner and showed progress very quickly when he got to his new home. In 2 days time he had mastered the dog door and learned to climb/descend the stairs, In 1 week time he had been (almost) fully house trained (minus excited peeing when he was fed and when we came home), and discovered a love of water fetch. In 4 weeks time he learned some new tricks and started to grow out of car sickness. Ted has made an incredible recovery from his mange and has put on some healthy weight, he looks incredible. Now that Ted has been home for almost 3 full months he is completely adjusted to his new life of being loved, fed, cared for, taken on daily adventures, sneaking snacks he should not have and being forgiven very quickly.. because well, how could you not you not?

One of the main things we love about Ted so much is his goofiness and mischievous side. Seriously, he makes us laugh so many times a day.  In the 3 short months Ted has been home, he has eaten half a tub of margarine, half a dozen chocolate chip cookies, a full bag of ciabatta buns, a loaf of bread, some dinner buns, multiple bowls of his sisters food, a full large bag of kernels popcorn and multiple kitchen utensils. We are slowly adjusting and learning to hide everything and anything because this dumpster diving pup takes every opportunity he gets. Ted also loves to jump around and show love, climbing up and putting his paws on your shoulders to embrace you whenever he gets a chance. Sometimes he will walk by us nonchalantly with a water bottle in his mouth or a random fork. He undeniably loves his brother Bo and would play with him all day if it was his choice, the 2 are now inseparable and love each other so much.

Our life has improved in so many ways with having Ted join our family: our home is filled with more weird dog noises, laughs, cuddles, dog beds, toys and even more love and dog hair. Thank you saving Grace, for finding Ted and leading us to find him. We could no longer picture a life without this goofy, loving, mischievous guy.

Thank you so much to his family for sharing this update and showing what love and proper care can do for an animal. We wish them the very best in the future and cannot express how excited we are for Ted to spend a fun and free summer with his favorite dog sibling and family.
