George's Story
George’s first day in shelter
In May 2021 George would come into Saving Grace’s care. He was found running loose as a stray. George was noticeably an older boy, who likely hadn’t had much positive contact with people as he was semi-feral. On top of that the poor boy had a stick lodged in his mouth and required an extensive dental. We had to go slow with George and had to gain his trust on his terms. He was quite shut down and didn’t want much to do with the staff at first. But with time and a lot of patience, we started to see improvements. He enjoyed leisurely walks but was far from the "“ get up and go” type. The first time we witnessed his “zoomies” was the most exciting day! To see him comfortable enough to let loose a little but such a wonderful sight!
Fast forward a few months later and George’s adoption day would come. He had found a wonderful family that was willing to give this old man a chance at a new life! He would receive a new name to go along with his new life- Hawk
Hawk has grown into a loving, active, social and all around amazing boy with his beloved dog siblings! His family had X-rays on him done in the last year for some arthritis concerns and found he had bullet fragments in his side and leg. Hawk is a true survivor! We can only imagine the life he was living before being scooped up.
Hawk is now a thriving 15 year old who seems to be aging in reverse! His days are spent snoozing on the bed, getting zoomies in the backyard, going for long walks, hanging on the deck, and getting all the snacks he could desire. He recently welcomed a new brother (a GEARS rescue) and they're all settling in nicely. His main brother Fritz is his best friend and they have a very sweet relationship .
This sweet senior boy has developed a goofy, mischievous side. A far cry from where he started 5 years ago! He is full of life and wonder. His family has done amazing things for him! We are so thankful that they decided to give this old boy a new lease on life where he can retire in peace, surrounded by love!
