Buddy's Story
Buddy as a Puppy, and then when he was returned to us
Buddy originally came into our care as a puppy. He was adopted but then would find himself returned to our care as a young adult dog in April of 2024. Buddy arrived nervous, a bit reactive, and very wary of strangers. to say the least , he was not happy to be in shelter. Our staff went at his pace, and with time gained his trust! Buddy was becoming a much more confident dog! He enjoyed playing with the kennel staff, and even participated in an art fundraiser where his artwork was auctioned off to raise money for the shelter. One of our staff was particularly fond of him and would regularly bring him home for shelter breaks.
However, the shelter was not a home and Buddy would find himself looked over time and time again. He had yet to find the right family that would be wiling to work with him on his major “stranger danger”. He needed someone that would understand his fears and work on building trust at his own pace.
Fast forward to the very end of February 2025. Buddy had been with us for just shy of a year and his time was about to come. Buddy would find himself a forever family! Someone that could see how special of a boy he really is!
Buddy now lives on an acreage in Water Valley with his sister Ziva. He spends most day exploring the property, going for a walks and camping. He loves food!!! He has had success with 3 different women he has met and has come a long way from when he was adopted. His family is so proud of him and the progress he has made! He is so so very loved!
Buddy’s story shows us that first impressions are not always what they seem. That scared and nervous dog may just be the perfect fit for your family, if only you give him a chance to thrive.
