Tali's Story

Talus when she first arrived at Saving Grace

Talus would arrive at Saving Grace in February 2021 as a stray. Tali was about 4 months old and incredibly fearful of people. She was terrified of her new surroundings and would need to learn how to trust us. As she was semi-feral the staff would need to work with her to understand that there were good people out there that cared for her. Read below to hear about her adoption story!

We adopted Tali (Talus) in the spring of 2021 at a Saving Grace adoption event. We had originally hoped to adopt a puppy, but while waiting, we noticed Tali being walked and felt drawn to her. The staff were hesitant to introduce us because Tali was a shut-down dog with a history of reactivity, aggression, and a deep lack of trust in people. We were told she likely wouldn't come near us.

To everyone's surprise, the moment we met, Tali walked over, climbed into my lap, gave me a few kisses, and settled in as if she had chosen us herself. We knew then that she was meant to be part of our family.

The first few months were not easy. With the help of her incredible foster mom Ashley, trainers, pack walks, hand-feeding, and plenty of patience, Tali slowly began to trust. As her confidence grew, so did her personality. The fearful, reactive dog we first met transformed into a loving companion who now adores snuggles, playing with friends, hiking, and camping adventures.

A year later, we adopted another rescue, Sierra, and the two have been inseparable ever since. Whether they're playing, exploring the trails, or curled up together for a nap, their bond is truly special.

We are so grateful to Saving Grace for the care, dedication, and support they provide to animals like Tali. Their commitment doesn't end at adoption, and the guidance we received throughout Tali's journey is something we will never forget.
